Barnard Castle & District 5 & 3’s Domino League Captains Meeting Tuesday 27th August 2024
Meeting Minutes: - Gillian Watson (Chair) opened the meeting at 8pm and welcomed everyone in attendance, the committee members were Mark Wallace (Vice Chair), Nick Peckett (Webmaster), Dor Lowe (Secretary), Alistair Peart and Paula Rogers. Apologies were given from Theresa Rogers-Walshaw (Treasurer) as she could not attend.
Matters Arising -
Spring Event The Chair suggested a Spring League to all Captains as a way to extend the season, the Consolation Cup (which is no longer used) would be re-appropriated and used as the prize. This would be open to all teams regardless from A or B Divisions and can be hybrid teams. There will be a sign up for the Spring League nearer Xmas with input from Captains after they speak to their teams. Feedback from all players was strongly emphasized. The motion was proposed by Sheila Wylie and seconded by Wendy Harrison; it was then put to the floor where it was unanimously carried.
Other Events The Chair also suggested that because of dwindling numbers within the league that new blood needs to be brought in! To that end it was suggested the committee arrange events through the season and Captains were asked to give help with this when this arises.
Treasurer's Report: - This is included as it was not available at the AGM. The Chair introduced the report to the meeting. The total balance as of 27th August 2024 was £ 1983.02 (Theresa sent a balance sheet, which was available to all members on the night.) It was noted at this point that we had excess funds that could easily finance future events.
Roll Call for Knockouts: - All 19 Teams paid for the knockouts this year with only four teams missing out the ladies’ pairs.
